Sonnet to Morning Joy
Inspired by
Psalms 30:5
No
matter how dark the night may become -
No moon to shine upon the path before
And the stars hide behind the cloudy doors
-
The light will come at dawn as from a drum
The
anger of the Lord comes swift and sure,
But just as swift is this His wrath
appeased
When we repent and thus our conscience
ease,
And try to lead our lives both clean and
pure.
When
living in His light we strive to dwell
His favor covers us just like a quilt
And as a flower that will never wilt
Throughout our lifetime we will feel it
swell.
Weep
if you will, but only for a night;
For joy
will come along with morning light
