“You can
do anything you want as long as you set your mind to it.”
How many
of us have heard these words from a parent or maybe a teacher?
What does
mindset mean? To set something means: “to permanently or
definitely establish.”
As an
effective proper Christian we must have certain mindsets that
nothing or no one can cause us to change or lose.
These
mindsets should include – but are not limited to – Happiness,
being positive, understanding, accepting and forgiving others,
edifying and encouraging others, being even tempered, caring for
others, and always praying for strength, knowledge and wisdom.
If we
don’t have our mind set on “things above” our emotions and
attitudes will run rampant and not only affect us but others as
well.
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek
those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the
right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things
on the earth” (Colossians 3:1-2).
We as Christians must
“meditate” on good and positive things.
That means think only good thoughts
and finds the good in all people.
This is the only way we can have a
proper Christian mindset. “Finally, brethren, whatever things
are true, whatever things are
noble, whatever things are
just, whatever things are
pure, whatever things are
lovely, whatever things are
of good report, if there is
any virtue and if there is
anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians
4:8).
I know with minor adjustments most people can
have their mind set on the thoughts that best represents God.
How is your Mindset?
