Jesus dealt with the everyday problems
that people were having. In this passage (Matthew13) we see how
He handled spiritual health problems, hearing, seeing and
understanding or understanding.
1) Eye Problems,
“Seeing they see not” What a blessing eye sight is to mankind
but as important as it is spiritual sight is more important.
John_9:1-7 tell of a man who was born blind and Jesus healed
him. A man was healed but instead of rejoicing, the religious
leaders began to find fault with him and his answers. On the way
to the land of promise, Israel lost sight of the land God had
given to them
We often fail to see our God given promises because we become
near sighted. We can conclude that spiritual eye sight has been
and continues to be a problem with mankind.
2) Hearing Problems,
“Hearing they hear not” In our previous story, they heard the
truth but wouldn’t accept the truth so they took it one step
further. They intimidated their witnesses. Next they questioned
his parents who were told they would be put out of the synagogue
if they wouldn’t change their story. Jesus said, “The dead shall
hear and live” John_5:24-28. Another story is found in
Mark_7:33-37 of a deaf man who was healed.
3) Understanding,
“Neither do they understand”. Some who see and hear still don’t
comprehend. Jesus spoke about some who heard Him teach as having
a “hard heart”.
This is a failure to comprehend God’s life giving message and
the consequences are told in 2Thess_1:8, “Taking vengeance on
those who know not”. Luke_24:45, “He opened their understanding”
Again in Matthew_13:8-13 He tell us even more about
understanding His teachings.
Conclusion:
The Lord didn’t come to earth to heal the sick, yet He did heal
many of diseases. He didn’t come to earth to feed the hungry,
yet He fed thousands more than once. He didn’t come to settle
disputes within families, yet He did bring peace where there was
fighting within families. The Lord is willing to help you with
your problems whether they are physical, mental or financial.
Truly, Jesus IS the great physician. No problem is too big or
too small for the Lord who cares about His child.
