Life of King David

David the Shepherd Boy ~ I SamUEL 16:11-12

  • “He is keeping the sheep” David wrote the 23rd. Psalm.

  • 1Samuel 16:18 “one of the servants answered, I have seen a son of Jesse [that is] cunning in playing, a mighty valiant man, a man of war, prudent in matters, a comely person, and the LORD [is] with him.”

David the King 2 SamUEL 2:4

  • “And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.” 2Sa 5:3 “So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and King David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel. 2 Samuel 5:4  David [was] thirty years old when he began to reign, [and] he reigned forty years.”

 David the Sinner

  • Adultery with Bathsheba 2Sam 11:1 “And it came to pass at the time when kings go forth [to battle], David tarried still at Jerusalem. V.2  And it came to pass in an evening tide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman [was] very beautiful to look upon. V.4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in and he lay with her and she returned to her house. V.5 and the woman conceived, and told David; I [am] with child.”
