One of the songs in
our hymnal compels us to know, think and speak “more about Jesus.” The
scriptures speak of preachers who “taught them Jesus.” In order for us
to speak to others about this subject, we must know and think more about
Him ourselves. Class room teachers have a saying, “You can’t teach a
subject you know nothing about.” Together, let’s learn so that we can
tell others about a savior they don’t know yet.
Jesus had no servants, yet they called
Him Master.
John 13:13
~ “You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.”
He had no degree, yet they called Him
Teacher.
John 3:2 ~ “This man
came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a
teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless
God is with him.”
He had no medicines, yet they called Him
Healer/Physician.
Acts 10:38 ~ “…how
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who
went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil,
for God was with Him.”
He had no army, yet kings feared Him
John 18:36
~ “Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were
of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be
delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
He won no military battles, yet He
conquered the world.
1 Tim. 3:16
~ “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in
the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels,
Preached among the
Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.”
He committed no crime, yet they put Him
to death.
Matthew 27:24 ~ “When
Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult
was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude,
saying, ‘I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.”
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives
today.
Rom 6:9 ~ “Knowing
this, that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death has no
more dominion [power] over Him.”
By today’s standards
He was a failure. He never had an earthly family to carry on His name,
nor is there any mention that He owned real estate. In fact, He was
buried in a borrowed tomb. He didn’t brag or boast about His heavenly
possessions, nor did He use His power for His own good when He clearly
could have. Instead, He used His power to feed and heal others.
Christian men and
women are carrying His message to foreign lands where some have never
heard the story of Jesus. Churches that bear His name are springing up
even in the former Soviet Union, where just to carry a bible was a
violation of law and carried with it serious consequences. Don’t you
feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us like this?
